Michael M. Cohen has been practicing law in New York for over thirty-five years representing clients in their personal and business transactions and advocating on their behalf before courts throughout the state. His practice focuses on the representation of clients in connection with the purchase and sale of residential and commercial real estate, the creation of wills and trusts, the probate and administration of decedents’ estates, matrimonial and family court matters and commercial litigation.


Mr. Cohen speaks frequently regarding issues of family and matrimonial law and was recently awarded the New York State Bar Association Presidents Pro Bono Service Award in recognition of extraordinary pro bono service work.

Susan is an education attorney with a practice focus on public charter schools. Susan represents and advises clients on all aspects of their operations, including applications, renewals, compliance, governance, employment, facilities appeals, commercial leases, discipline and special education. Prior to joining Cohen Schneider & O’Neill, Susan served as Legal Counsel at the New York City Charter School Center, where she provided legal support to the Charter Center and guidance to New York City charter schools. Susan has a background in corporate law and practiced as a civil litigator for many years, gaining wide ranging litigation experience in Connecticut State and Federal Courts, including appellate and complex litigation matters. Susan is a certified mediator and has completed the State of Connecticut’s Guardian ad Litem / Attorney for the Minor Child comprehensive training.

Susan volunteers her time to community, non-profit organizations with a recent emphasis on service to at-risk children and youth. Previously she served for many years as a Member of the Board of Directors of Weston Public Library in Weston, Connecticut.
